Assembly Instructions
Make sure to clean properly before first time use.
Remove the water filter system and parts from their packaging and check each item with the information on the diagram. The number of Ceramic Filters supplied may vary. Now, wash your hands before proceeding to make sure that you don't contaminate the filter during assembly.
Lid:
Fit the knob (1) onto the lid (2) by inserting the screw (3) up through the hole in the lid and screwing on the knob. Hand tighten only.
Air Lock Clips:
Use the clips as per the directions shown in the figure when the water flow from the upper chamber is extremely slow or when there is no flow due to the air lock formed between the upper and lower chamber
Upper Chamber - Hole Blockers
The additional holes in your water filter are plugged with two or more silicon blockers. If you wish to install more filters for quicker filtration you will need to remove these blockers.
Upper Chamber - Filters
Place the filter washer (10) over the threaded part of the Ceramic Filter (5). Place the Ceramic Filter (5) into the hole in the base of the upper chamber (4). Secure Ceramic Filter in the chamber base by screwing on the black wing nut (11) onto the threaded mount. Hand tighten only. Repeat procedure until all Ceramic Filter have been installed.
Lower Chamber:
Place one tap washer (8) onto the threaded part of the tap (7). Insert thread of tap (7) through hole in the side of the lower chamber (6). Place second tap washer (8) over the thread within the chamber and secure in place with the nut (9). Tighten by holding the nut (9) firmly with one hand and turning the tap clockwise until the tap is firmly tightened and is in the upright position. Put the upper chamber (4) onto the lower chamber (6) and place lid (2) in position.
Dimensions and Scale
Compact yet efficiently sized, the system is thoughtfully designed to balance capacity and space-saving convenience. Its practical dimensions make it easy to integrate into countertops, storage areas, or outdoor setups without compromising performance.
When using the water Filter for the first time:
Fill upper chamber with water and cover it with the lid. Allow all water to filter into the lower chamber. Open the tap to discard the first water. The Ultra Steel Gravity Water Filter is now ready to use. Note that filtration time will be considerably long the first time. Do this whenever installing new filters. Replace the filters every 6 months for best performance. Visit us at www.survivorfilter.com to re-order your replacement filters. Do not clean the stainless steel with metal brushes or cleaning products, which will damage the the housing’s anticorrosive properties. Instead, make sure to wash with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
Disinfection of the Lower Chamber, Tap and Filter Nozzles:
Fill the chamber with water to the rim. Add 2 spoonfuls of "Hydrogen Peroxide USP 3%" and stir the water. Let the solution stand for 60 minutes, then open tap for couple of minutes and discard the rest. Fill upper chamber again and let it filter all water. Rinse upper and lower chambers throughly with clean water and discard.. This procedure should be performed periodically or if contamination is suspected.
Warning:
If you accidentally drop the filter and it did not break, do the following test to make sure the filter is still operable.
1. Air dry the filter or filters for at least 24 hour
2. Submerge the filters into a water container while holding a finger over the outlet to keep the air inside If the ceramic is cracked the trapped air will exit through it and you would see bubbles, indicating replacement is required.
Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting
Do I need to boil the filters to clean them?
No, the filter can be rinsed under warm water and washed with a soft cloth
What do I do if the tap is leaking?
If the tap leaks at the nozzle, message us ASAP for replacement. If it occurs at the washer area, tighten the tap more firmly.
Water is leaking between upper and lower chamber?
This is not a manufacturing defect. To avoid it from happening, do not fill the upper chamber when the lower chamber is still full.
How long will the Ceramic Filter last?
From 6 months to a year depending on your daily consumption and how contaminated the input water is.
How should I clean the filter?
Wearing rubber gloves, remove the filter from the upper chamber while making sure that the water does not spill into lower chamber. Scrub each filter under running tap water using a soft brush or mild abrasive (3M scotch brite or similar) until the original colour of the filter is restored. Always brush away from threaded mount, taking care not to contaminate the mount. Never use soap or detergents.
How often do I need to clean the filter?
Clean the filter when it has turned brown and/or the filtration rate has become very slow. This is usually every week to every 3 months depending on the input water.
